As people age, not only are there greater struggles with physical health, but mental health issues can also become more apparent. Depression and anxiety tend to be the most common diagnoses among older adults. This webinar will review the key signs to look for in aging populations. Pre - register by 1/6/26 for this webinar. AASC is moving from one database to another, so registrations will be moved and then billed from the new system.

As people age, not only are there greater struggles with physical health, but mental health issues can also become more apparent. Depression and anxiety tend to be the most common diagnoses among older adults.  This webinar will review the key signs to look for in this population. With greater education and knowledge, the hope is to reduce the stigma of mental health conditions that make individuals reluctant to get the help they need.

Who Should Attend: Elderly; Advanced Social Services

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the mental health issues that affect older adults.
  • Learn the signs of depression and how this differs in older adults.
  • Discuss the warning signs and risk factors that can lead to suicide.
  • Identify preventative measures and resources to utilize when encountering an individual with suicidal thoughts and/or behaviors. 
     

About the Presenter

Michelle Moore is a licensed clinical social worker.  She obtained her MSW degree from Indiana University.  She spent 20 years of her practice career at Adult and Child Mental Health working with adults with serious mental illness.  She served as a therapist, team leader, assistant director, and director in her tenure. She entered private practice in 2019 where she continues to work today.  In 2021, Michelle began working as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Field Education with the School of Social Work at Indiana University assisting online MSW students to secure field placements and teaching social work courses.  She continues to be passionate about mental health and wellness.
