How many times have you been faced with the question, “is this reportable and to who?”  Is this child abuse or elder abuse?  Should I call their emergency contact for assistance? Is this a cry for help or attention seeking?  What am I legally required to report?  These are questions that may have one to go home after work and continue to think “Should I report that?”  Reporting incidents to the required agency should not be taken lightly as there can be certain action items that take place after reporting for the resident or even you.  Discuss the who, what, when, where, why and how it will help you to navigate incident reporting.

Learning Objectives

  • Learn what is considered a reportable and non-reportable incident.
  • Learn some of the different types of incidents.
  • Discuss the different types of agencies/persons that one would report to.
  • Learn when to make a report and how the report “flow” would look.

About the Presenter

Erica Goldman has worked in the Human Services field for the last 12 years, in several capacities. Along with being the manager of Intake/Case Coordination and Training at Mosaic Inc., she also works in public housing as a Community Life and Relocation Specialist.

She has a strong passion for helping others and has a special place in her heart for those with developmental and intellectual disabilities. She believes strongly in educating others on how to improve a person’s quality of life. She has worked her way up within the field and speaks from life experience. She has taken her passion and has begun to train others through Stepping Forward Training & Consulting LLC. She refers to herself as a mentor and a very strong advocate.
