This musically interactive session will have participants singing and tapping their foot from the very first note. This presentation will give an overview of music therapy, qualifications, research and scope of practice. Participants will also learn how music therapy is used in a multidisciplinary team to meet similar goals.

About the Presenter

Tamela Rios Ponder is a Board Certified Neurologic Music Therapist. She completed her training at Loyola University. In 2008 Tamela began serving the special needs community of Central Florid and founded Joyful Music Therapy. Joyful Music Therapy is the largest Music Therapy private practice in Central Florida serving over 500 individuals every week.  In 2012 Tamela received the Community Champion Award from the Down Syndrome Association of Central Florida. In 2016 Tamela was featured on PBS channels One Central Florida and in 2017, she received Provider Of The Year award from Putting the Pieces Together. Tamela has made it her life's goal to teach families about the healing power of music and advocate for Music Therapy everywhere she goes.
