*Throwback Thursday* Human Trafficking: The Stats, The Trends and The Response will focus on the prevalence and severity of human trafficking, discuss the trends being seen by the CCAHT Human Trafficking Task Force, overview the complex needs of a victim of human trafficking and provide both a national and local perspective on how the human trafficking epidemic is affecting communities around the nation.
Who Should Attend: Service Coordinators (families), child protective workers, social workers, property management staff.
1. Define and explain "human trafficking" and dispel common myths about the crime.
2. Identify at-risk populations and recruitment tactics.
3. Recognize the needs of the victims, how to help and how to best respond to a trafficking situation.
About the Presenter
Kate Trudell joined The Community Coalition Against Human Trafficking in 2014 as the Executive Director. She has a BA from Furman University and an extensive background in non-profit management. Trudell is an expert in human trafficking, domestic violence and other women’s rights issues. She is a standing guest presenter at The University of Tennessee and Pellissippi State Community College and has been a selected panelist for community forums and numerous training events.
Prior to her role with CCAHT, she served as the Director of Individual Giving for the YWCA of Nashville and Middle Tennessee. Before beginning her second career in the non-profit sector, Kate worked as a Senior Graphic Designer in Nashville, Tennessee for nearly six years. Trudell brings a wealth of knowledge in not only fundraising, donor cultivation, grant management and event management but also in caused-based marketing, brand strategy and social media design.
Trudell is involved with numerous community initiatives including The Women’s Fund of East Tennessee Advocacy Committee, the Knoxville Anti-Trafficking Task Force, and the DCS East Region Human Trafficking Working Group.
