|2017 Summer of Action|
Make this Summer your Season of Advocacy!
This summer, the American Association of Service Coordinators is focusing on advocacy and educating elected officials about service coordination and residents' needs. We need you to get involved!
AASC is planning one action per month this May through September. We'll provide reminders, tools and resources to help you complete each action.
Invite others to join us! Share our Summer of Action flyer.
August ActionMeet with your members of Congress, who are working in their districts this month
This month, your members of Congress (two senators and one member of the House of Representatives) will be on recess and working in their home districts.
This is a crucial time to advocate for service coordination. Congress will need to finalize the federal budget for FY 2018 (or pass a continuing resolution, or CR) by the end of September. The federal budget affects funding for service coordinator programs, health care and housing.
Take action this month by visiting your members of Congress (MoCs) at their local (not Washington, DC) offices or by inviting them to your property. Get all the tips, talking points and resources you need to plan your meeting with your MoCs in the document below.
Take photos! Snap pictures of your residents signing a petition, an MoC speaking at your property, your group at the MoC's office, and everything else you do. We want to see your photos. Send them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Don't forget – Advocacy isn't just for representatives at the federal level. Meet with state and local officials, too!
